I can’t even remember if it was the music or the name of the band that interested me the most. But now I know for sure they are both very special and I both like them. For me enough reason to find out something more about them. I looked them up on social media as Facebook, Instagram and of course YouTube. But there were still a few things more I wanted to know. So I asked them if it was alright to ask them some question. And Evangeline, the singer of the band, was so kind to answer my questions. And I’m very grateful so took the time to do so.
The music and short history
The band The Fall of Eve was established in 2011 and based in Irvine, Scotland and formed by Michael Moffat and Evangeline. They describe their genre as a Symphonic Rock. But they feel themselves a bit softer than the usual Symphonic metal but the orchestra in their songs are very important to the overall sound Evangeline told us. And if we look on Facebook we can read “The Fall of Eve is an alternative rock/metal band. We are a fusion of weighty guitars, inspiring orchestration and celestial choral along with a female lead vocal to create beguiling melodies and rhythms that stay with you long after the music stopped”. And that this is true you will read later in this article.

The name of the band
When I saw the name The Fall of Eve I had two explanations in mind for this, I think special name. I thought it had something to do with evening. In Holland we say “de avond valt”, or something to do with Eve, the bible story.
The only one who can tell us is Evangeline. And so she did:
The band name The Fall of Eve is taken from the biblical story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and being thrown out of the garden after eating an apple from the Tree of Knowledge. It was Eve’s fault that got them thrown out of the garden and being a female fronted band we decided to use The Fall of Eve.
It was me (Evangeline) who came up with the name. In the beginning of the band I used a lot of biblical stories as refence for song lyrics and that was where I got the idea.
The band members
At the moment the band members are Evangeline (vocals) and Michael Moffat (guitars). The other instruments are provided by session musicians.
Michael and Evangeline have been together since 2008 and have always played music together but it wasn’t until 2011 that The Fall of Eve was established.
Evangeline is a classically trained musician who played various instruments as well as sings, she has studied music for over 20 years now.
Michael has played guitar for almost 25 years and has been in a wide variety of bands before. But this is the first band of this genre he has been in.
Both Evangeline as Michael don’t play in other bands now. As Evangeline says “we are focusing all our energy on The Fall of Eve”.
For now they are not full time musicians. Michael works in a local restaurant and Evangeline is taking time away from work to look after their new baby, Thomas.
So far the band released 3 records. These are:
- Calls From the Horizon
- Eternal Embrace
- If even Angels Fall
And they are currently recording a new album which will be released at the end of this year. For this album they are collaborating with ex-Evanescence guitarist John Lecompt. He will be providing the bass and also mixing and mastering the new album for them.
If you want to know how the music sounds you have to listen by yourself. But they are influenced by Within Temptation. Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Epica, For Al, We know, Delain, Sirenia, Tarja and Therion.
I asked one of my friend to listen to this song.
And this is what she told about it:
“I’m listening to The Fall of Eve and I have tears in my eyes. And I’m fighting not the cry. Jesus this music goes right to the soul. What a beautiful track this is, and the instruments…..”
“This band deserves really a change. They have a wonderful future ahead I think. I’m sure that’s going to happen. While I’m writing this answer it gives me goosebumps on my arms”.
Gigs and future plans
Their best gig so far was when they opened the Dames of Darkness Festival in Bliston (England). They were the opening act and the had a lot of people in the audience. It was so much fun and they also made a lot of new friends too.
They have no international dates booked at the moment but they hope to change that in the near future and they will sure let us know when they can make it to Holland. But with a new record at the end of the year the future looks bright.
You can download the albums from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other online retailers. They can also be streamed on Spotify and CD’s can be purchased from their merch page:
